discribe two types of animal breeding technique

Dear Student

Answer: Animal Breeding is the process where animals of desired characteristics are mated to increase the yield of animals and some desirable characteristics like milk quantity etc.

It is a very important aspect of animal husbandry.

There are mainly two ways of animal breeding

  1. Inbreeding
  2. Outbreeding

Inbreeding: It is the method of mating of superior males and superior females of the same breed that are closely related and have common ancestors for 4- 6 generations.

Outbreeding: It refers to the mating of superior males and superior females of either the same breed but not closely related ancestors for 4- 6 generations, or different breeds or different species.

Based on the breeds of animals, there are three types of outbreeding methods:

  1. Outcrossing - Mating of not closely related animals of the same breed not having common ancestors for 4-6 generations.
  2. Crossbreeding - Mating of animals of different breeds.
  3. Interspecific hybridization - Mating of animals of different species.
