the given function is: $f (x) = \frac{1}{x}$

since any number divided by zero is not defined thus the function is not defined at x = 0.

and f(x) = 1/x is not defined at x = 0. hence it is not continuous at x = 0.

and the graph of the function is given below:

so it is clear from the graph:

$\underset{x \to 0 +}{f (x)} = \infty a n d \underset{x \to 0 -}{f (x)} = - \infty$
