Discuss the structure of pollen grains in detail.
Dear student,
Pollen grain has the following characteristics:
1) It has Two prominent layers
2) It has Germ pores : The area on the surface of pollen where sporopollenin is absent.
3)A mature pollen is divided into two cells called the vegetative cell and a generative cell.
The vegetative cell is bigger in size and has abundant food reserve and has a nucleus.
The generative cell is small and floats in the cytoplasm of vegetative cell, It has a dense cytoplasm and the is spindle shaped.
4)Each pollen grain posses two type of nucleus called generative nucleus and tube nucleus.
The generative nucleus divides and forms two male gametes nucleus and develops pollen tube after pollination.

Pollen grain has the following characteristics:
1) It has Two prominent layers
- EXINE: Hard, Outer layer. It is Made up of Sporopollenin, which is the most resistant organic material.
- INTINE: Inner, thin wall. It is made up of cellulose and pectine
2) It has Germ pores : The area on the surface of pollen where sporopollenin is absent.
