The non co operation movement spread far and wide. It took various forms in different parts of the country:
In Gujarat KHEDA people were afraid of the high land revenue system and so organised non violent revolt against it.
In coastal ANDHRA and Tamil NADU various liquor shops were picketed.
In the middle andhra there were several forest statyagrahas taking place. The tribals were fed up of the forest restrictions that was paying grazing tax, so they often sent their cattle to graze in the forest without paying grazing tax.
In Sind now in Pakistan they were very enthusiastic about the khilafat call and also the people of Bangal were enthusiastic for the khilafat call non cooperation movement. Cooperation alliance gave lots of strength to these movements.
In Punjab the Akali agitation of the Sikhs sought to drive out the corrupt mahants supported by the British sheds and it came close to be known as the co operation movement.
In Assam tea garden workers left the British plantations and became the followers of Gandhi
People looked at Gandhi as their messiah. Someone who could help them overcome their poverty and their miserable conditions.
