In the 19th century, the Indian textile industry started declining because of many factors, such as:
1) Britain started importing machine-made textiles which were much cheaper and better in quality than traditional Indian textiles.

2)By the beginning of the 19th century, England made cotton textiles successfully ousted Indian goods from its traditional markets in Africa, Asia, America and Europe. Thus, Indian goods were now brought by Europeans and Britishers.
