Distinguish between settled agriculture and shifting Agriculture?
Settled agriculture means the same piece of land is cultivated by a farmer every year. Farmers apply various natural and artificial fertilizers to the land to maintain its fertility.
On the other hand, in shifting cultivation, the plot of land that is cultivated changes every few years. No fertilizer is added to the soil to maintain fertility. Hence, after a few years of cultivation, the land loses its fertility. The farmer then moves to some other piece of land.
