Distinguish between
Sucrose & Maltase
Diffusion & Active Absorption
Lipase & peptidases

Dear student,

Maltose:

  • Maltose also known as malt sugar, is a disaccharide formed from two units of glucose joined with an α(1→4) bond, formed from a condensation reaction.
  • Maltase enzyme converts maltose disaccharide into glucose monosaccharide.
  • It is found in beers.

Sucrose:

  • Sucrose is the organic compound commonly known as table sugar and sometimes called saccharose.
  • A white, odourless, crystalline powder with a sweet taste, it is best known for its nutritional role.
  • The molecule is a disaccharide composed of the monosaccharides glucose and fructose with the molecular formula C12H22O11.
  • Invertase enzyme is used to convert sucrose into Glucose + Fructose monosaccharides.
Diffusion is the movement of particles from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration.
Active absorption is the process through which water is absorbed by roots on their own. This occur when transpiration is low and thus the quantity of water is high in the soil.

Peptidase is an enzyme that hydrolysis peptides into amino acids.
Lipase is an enzyme that breakdown the fatty acids.
