Distinguish between western and eastern nationalism.

- Western nationalism originated with Industrial revolution and imperialism to protect the interest of mercantile group. While, nationalism in the East was mainly against colonies, like against the British in India, to gain rights of self-governance and freedom.
- Western nationalism believed in keeping religious sphere separate from nation building and political sphere while Eastern nationalism was an inclusion of both religion and state.
- Nations in the West or Europe were drawn on the basis on language differences while nationalism in the East tied people by a common shared colonial past.
