Do monozygotic twins have same fingerprints and Iris pattern ????

Dear student,

Monozygotic twins are so called because they develop from the same zygote, which splits into two , thereby giving rise to twins. They are also called identical twins, but do not have identical fingerprints and iris patterns.
They might have similar patterns since they share the same genetic makeup (DNA), but fingerprints and iris patterns are not completely genetic characteristics.
The foetus begins developing fingerprint patterns in the early weeks of pregnancy. Small differences in the womb environment give each twin different, but similar, fingerprints and iris patterns.

Regards.

Identical twins do not have identical fingerprints, even though their identical genes give them very similar patterns. The fetus begins developing fingerprint patterns in the early weeks of pregnancy. Small differences in the womb environment conspire to give each twin different, but similar, fingerprints.
