Yes, I agree with the statement that India has failed to grow as fast as China, because it has failed to check the growth rate of its population. China has accomplished the task of controlling its population growth rate. With the unchecked population growth in India, the government has given a huge amount of food subsidy, incurred a large amount on health, education of the people that are below poverty line. These expenditures by government leads to social welfare but are unproductive in nature. These expenditures does not increases the production capability of a country, rather these expenditures destroyed the production capability which has an adverse impact on the growth of an economy. Due to this reason, India has failed to grow as fast as China.
