Do you agree with the view that the use of public transport in place of personal transport reduces environmental degradation?

I agree to the fact that with a substantial increase in public transport system alongwith reducing personal vehicles will prove to be a great step in our journey to save our environment from degrading day by day as it will provide us numerous benefits such as reduction in air pollution, decrease in traffic, drop in fuel consumption and subsequently lower fuel imports (which will save resources for future generation that is the concept of sustainable development) lesser health hazards, higher productivity and many more.
