Dear Student,
It is natural to feel shy, nervous and conscious about oneself when visiting a strange place or while talking to strangers. Yes, I certainly have that feeling. This happens because of the lack of safety we feel and is designed in our system to protect us from unknown dangers. The evolution of human beings is not only evident in bodily changes but also in behaviours. However, most of us can deal with this shyness and come out in moments of need and speak up. In some cases though, the feelings of anxiety in such moments go to an extreme level. This results in social phobia. A person suffering from social phobia often experiences feelings of fear in situations like these. For such people, even mundane social activities in a slightly strange setting can be extremely difficult. With patience, courage, determination, calm and sometimes therapeutic help, one can get rid of these feelings and live a more confident social life.
