does a linear pair need to be supplementary?

pls answer

 yes.

  • 2

but i was reading the explanations its said that 120 degree+50 DEGREE=170 degree

and thats a linear pair

 madhuri pls reply

Sometimes books can also be wrong, there may be a miss print.

  • 0

Or there must be 1 more angle on that line which will be equal to 10 degree.

  • 1

(ii) Sum of the measures of angles = 50° + 110°

= 160°

Thus, the given pair can form a linear pair.

this is what given in meritnation chapter 3 in lines and angles guys

just check

  • 0

no, linear pair need to be supplementary.and that's why we call them a linear pair . can you tell me where did you read that.

and sorry 4 late reply.

i m not a paid member on meritnation so i can see ncert solutions only . well you don't worry i'll give a confirm answer on sunday or monday.

give me some time to confirmation. ok.

actually i m confused because u wrote that u asked a question from chapter lines and angles if it is a chapter of maths i can't help u. if u asking the question from ch4 of chem. then i can help u

if the que. is from chem-

yes a linear pair must be supplementary. if there is a lone pair then the bonding occur in bent angles which are not equal to 180.

 thanks any way

k,

Excuse me dear linear pair is supplementary angle only bcs if the sum of two angle is 180 degree they form supplemenatry angle
  • 0
so you mean supplementary angles?
  • -2
Yes linear pairs must be supplementary

  • 0
yes it needs
  • 2
Yes. Because the sum of two angles which are supplementary to each other = 180 degree and two angles in a linear pair = 180 degree.
  • 3
Sometimes but usually yes
  • 0
linear pair is always supplementary.
the sum of linear pair is 180.
and the sum of supplementary angles is also 180
so u can use any 2 positive number that gives the sum 180.
that means u can use 179 and 1 degree also.

Yes.Because the sum of the linear pair is 180°.Two adjacent angles are said to form a linear pair ,if their sum is 180°.That is,the non common arms form a straight line.

supplementary angels = two angels are said to supplementary if there sum is 180 degree .
linear pair = a pair of a adjacent angles is said to form a linear pair if the uncommon arms of the the angles form a straight

Yes, linear pair (angles) are always supplementary, what that means is that they sum up to 180o
  • 0
yes it needs to be supplementary

If linear pair will not be supplementary then it will not form a straight line and if it is not a srtaight line then it will not be a linear pair because linear pair is always sraight. That's why it needs
  • 1
yes it has to be supplymentary
