Does internal fertilization take place in hens ? If yes, what will happen if the egg does not fertilize ? Will the hen still lay the egg ?

Dear Student,

Yes, internal fertilization takes place in hen. When a rooster mates with a hen, it deposits spermatozoa in the oviduct. These sperm, containing male sperm cells, travel the length of the oviduct and are stored in the infundibulum. The hen will continue to lay eggs even if she is not fertilized by the rooster.

Hope this helps,

Cheers!!
