Does non metal react with dilute nitric acid?

The solution is as follows:

Non-metals are oxidised by the action of nitric acid.

C is oxidised to carbon dioxide, sulphur is oxidised to sulphur dioxide and phosphorous is oxidised to phosphoric acid.

The reaction is as follows:

     C(s) + HNO(aq)  CO2 + NO2 + H2O

  • 0
N.M + HNO3 = NO REACTION
  • 1
no non metal do not react with dilute nitric acid because non metal lie below the hydrogen in the reactivity series.
thus non metal does not able to displace hydrogen from the nitric acid
  • 0
No because acid do not react with acid
