Weighing machine or scale measure weight of a body or an object which is the force acting on a body of mass that is equal to the objects mass times acceleration due to gravity.

Weighing machine or scale cannot measure mass directly because the weight of any given body is dependent on local gravity.
Spring balance are also used to measure weight or force acting on a body. It consists of a coiled spring which gets stretched when a force is applied to it or we can say when an object is hanged on its hook.
