Draw a diagram of a simple pendulum and and explain its working

Hi,

A simple pendulum is one where a mass hangs from the end of a massless string which can oscillate about its mean or equilibrium position. It is a resonant system with only one resonant frequency.

For small angular displacement the time period of oscillation of the pendulum is,

Where, L is the length of the string, and ‘g’ is the acceleration due to gravity.

The weight hanging on the end of the string of the simple pendulum is called bob.

SO,

Simple pendulum is an idealised model that can not be achieved in practise because we can not have a point mass and weightless string in practise. The only forces that act on the mass are gravitational force and tension of the string.
Cheers!!
