Draw a labelled diagram to show the setup of apparatus used for seperating common salt and ammonium chloride. Write three properties of substance which they fill form when mixed with water.

The mixture of salt (sodium chloride NaCl) and ammonium chloride (NH₄Cl) can be easily separated with the help of the following three processes stepwise

First, take the mixture in a china dish. Place this china dish on a tripod stand and cover the dish by inverting a funnel over it. The funnel should be plugged on the top with cotton to prevent the vapours of ammonium chloride from escaping into the atmosphere. Heat the china dish using a burner. On heating, ammonium chloride sublimes. As a result, ammonium chloride gets separated from common salt and solidifies on the cold walls of the funnel.
