Kidenys are located on the both sides of the vertebrae.
The blood enters through the renal artery and leaves through the renal vein.

The human excretory system consists of:
- Kidney
- Ureters
- Urinary bladder
- Urethra
The functional unit of a kidney is nephron.
Kidenys are located on the both sides of the vertebrae.
The blood enters through the renal artery and leaves through the renal vein.
The functions are:
- As the kidneys are made up of nephrons. The blood enters the nephrons where the impurities are filtered out ( the purified blood leaves the kidney through the renal vein)
- Ureters: the rythmic contraction of smooth muscles present in the ureters called peristalsis, helps to move the urine from the kidney to the urinary bladder.
- Urinary bladder: it is a hollow muscular organ which helps in the storage of urine.
- Urethra: It is a tube of smooth muscle with a mucous lining that carries the urine form the bladder to the outside of the body.
