each of two persons A and B toss three fair coins .The probability that both get the same no. of heads is ...???

Dear Student,

For a toss of 3 coins, the sample space

S = { HHH, HHT, HTH, THH, TTH, THT, HTT, TTT }

So, n(S) = 8.

But both A & B are tossing coins.

There are 4 different possibilities.

Let X: be the number of head by person A.

P(X=0)=18.18=164(getting no head)P(X=1)=382=964 (getting 1 head)P(X=2)=382=964   (getting 2 head)P(X=3)=18.18=164   (getting 3 head)Required probability= sum  of all the above probability= 1+9+9+164=2064 = 516

Regards.
