Ecological adaption of prawn ?

Dear Student,

The prawns undergo aquatic adaptation. Some of the adaptations they undergo are given below:
  • They develop external gills to breathe under the water.
  • They are scavengers and hence collect dead matter from the bottom of oceans, seas, etc.
  • They have legs with the help of which they walk along the bottom of the water bodies.
  • They swim in water by pushing their abdomen as they do not have fins.
Prawns are also known to undergo colour adaptations with the help of colouration structures on the prawn hypodermis on exposure to dark or light coloured substrates.
