Ehtylene hastens the senescence of leaves and flowers.

leaves and flowers undergo dropping.

Do both the phenomenons move around the same understanding, and do both occurs due to ethylene?

Dear Student.

The correct term is ethylene.

Ethylene hastens the senescence of leaves and flowers by increasing the rate of respiration. As a result of which conversion of starch into sugar takes place more speedily.

Dropping of leaves and flowers may happen due to a number of reasons such as nutrient deficiency, stimulation of cell wall degrading enzymes by ethylene, pathogen infestation, a decrease in the rate of photosynthesis, hydrolytic breakdown of protein, carbohydrates and chlorophyll etc.
