energy required to ionise 2 moles of gaseous He+ ion present in its ground state is??

Dear student
Please find the solution to the asked query:

He has 2 electrons.

E =-13.6Z2n2n =1Z=2Energy = -13.6(2)2            =-13.6×4            =  - 54.4 eV

since 2 moles of ion is asked 2 x -54.4 =-108.8 eV
Here energy cannot be negative [as it is an endothermic reaction ], so it is 108.8eV

Hope this information will clear your doubts regarding the topic. If you have any other doubts please ask here on the forum and our experts will try to solve them as soon as possible.
