Enumerate the chemical events occur in the process of clotting of blood. PLzz GIVE me it's answer in three short point.

Dear student,
Please find the answer to your query below:

Clotting of blood takes place in order to prevent blood loss during injury and wound healing. However, it should be kept in mind that this mechanism is effective only in dealing with injuries in small vessels(arteries, veins, capillaries) because the body usually is not able to control loss of blood from medium or large blood vessel.

To stop bleeding two interdependent processes are used:
1. formation of a platelet plug
2. blood coagulation i.e Clotting

Clotting of blood:

1. It is the transformation of blood into a solid gel called a clot or thrombus, consisting mainly of protein polymer known as fibrin. Clotting occurs only around the original platelet plug. It has two types of pathways Intrinsic and extrinsic.
2. At, each step of the cascade an inactive plasma protein or factor is converter (activated) to a proteolytic enzyme, which then catalyzes the generation of the next enzyme in the sequence.
3. The key point of the cascade is the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin. This conversion causes the release of several other polypeptides which are fibrinogen. The fibrinogen remnants then bind to each other to form fibrin. In presence of a thrombin-activated factor, fibrin meshwork strengthens and stabilizes.

I hope this information clears your doubts.
Regards
