Even though rainwater is the purest form of water, it acts as an electrolyte. However, distilled water cannot be an electrolyte. The reason for this is

A.rain water consists of dissolved oxygen

B.rainwater consists of dissolved oxides of sulfur

C.rain water consists of dissolved Nitrogen

D.rain water consists of dissolved oxides of Hydrogen

Dear student,
Rain water consists dissolved oxides of sulphur and nitrogen.
SO2 and NO2 after reaction with water form acid.
2SO2 (g) + O2 (g) + 2H2O (l) → 2H2SO3 (aq)
4NO2 (g) + O2 (g)+ 2H2O (l) → 4HNO3 (aq)
Due to formation of above acids rain water contain ions due to which it acts as electrolyte.
While distilled water is actually purest form of water. It does not ions in significant amount. So it behaves like non electrolyte.
Correct answer is B.
