Examine the factor leading to fierce battles between trading companies in India . What did it lead to ?

The primary factor that led to  fierce battles between trading companies in India was trading rivalry. Each trading company wanted to establish a trading monopoly in India so that they could extract maximum profit. As a result, each sought alliances and support of rival local rulers which led to various battles. The most prominent rivalry was between the British and the French East India Company in the Carnatic. The French were defeated which led to the establishment of British dominance in India.
