examples of acid ligands??

Dear Student,

pi-acid are the ligands which contain vacant π-orbitals in the addition to the lone pair of electrons. They donate their lone pair to the metal atom to form normal sigma bond and at the same time accept pair of electron from the filled orbital of the metal atom into their vacant π-orbital leading to the formation of back-π bond. Eg. CO, NO, CNR, CN, PPh3, etc.
