Experiment setup to demonstrate a vital process study the same and then answer the question that follows

(1) Osmosis.
(2) Osmosis is the movement of solvent (water) from its higher concentration to its lower concentration i.e., from region having lower concentration of solute to region of higher concentration of solute. Osmosis takes place through Semi-permeable memberane..
(3) After an hour or so, the level of sugar solution in the thistle funnel will rise due to osmosis and the level of water in the beaker will drop slightly.
(4) To set a control for this experiment, the same setup should be taken with normal water filled in both beaker and the thistle funnel with the cellophane memberane instead of parchment paper and inverted in the beaker.
(5) Cellophane membrane can be used instead of Parchment paper.
