We have a conductor of length say L.

Its resistance is, x = 4 Ω and resistivity is, y = 48 × 10^{-8} Ωm

Now, when the length is reduced to L/2, the material of the conductor remains the same.

So, y = 48 × 10^{-8} Ωm

Since, the area of cross-section of the conductor is not changed and only length is change and we know length is directly proportional to the resistance. So, new resistance is, x = 4/2 = 2 Ω
