experts can u pls give a diag of the taste buds located in the tongue and explain it.

Dear student,
The bumps present on the tongue is called papillae which is red in appearance due to abundance of blood vessel. There are three types of papillae circumvallate, fungiform and foliate papillae. Circumvallate and foliate papillae are present at the back of the tongue which contains taste bud. Only the outer taste pore is visible to us and the rest portion of taste bud is burried inside. Cells present in taste buds are supporting cell (supports the structure of bud), sensory cells (site of sensory transduction) and basal cells (derives from epithelium cells).
