Experts I'm deciding to switch to commerce. Is it a good field? Do I need to get 98% in 12th for admission in Lady Shri Ram college only or is there some other requirement also. I mean like in engineering we have to appear for competitve tests, so in commerce I think marks of 12th is all that matters for admission in college. I'll take maths and commerce. Plstell me, I'm confused.
Dear Student,
Yes, Commerce is a good field as it provides a very good scope to commerce students. In order to get admission in LSR, all what you need to focus is to get the maximum possible score in your Class-XII Board exams. The following are the career options that a commerce student can opt for.
1. B.Com and B.Com (H)- three year programme from University of Delhi. If you are able to complete M.Com from DU with good percentage, then you are assured of getting a highly-paid job in MNCs and renowned corporates.
2. After completing your masters in Commerce, you can also opt for Academics jobs such as lectureship (clear UGC NET) or PGTs (B.Ed required after B.Com or B.A).
3. If you want to go for Professional courses, then commerce stream provides you with ample opportunities such as being one of the following: Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants, Company Secretary, etc.
4. There are numerous public sector jobs that favour commerce students such as LIC AAO, LIC Development Officer, National Insurance Jobs, Banking Sector Jobs, etc.
5. If want to serve the nation, then after completing your graduation, you can opt for CDS exams conducted by UPSC and/or civil services exams, etc. Even after passing class-XII board exams, you can appear for NDA exams and various other exams conducted by SSC (Staff Selection Commission).
6. Besides these, there are numerous diplomas that are also available for the commerce students such as Retail Management, Human Resource Management, Business Development, Investment Banking, etc.
There are numerous other economical-gainfully opportunities that you being a commerce student can opt for but above all you should remember that whatever course you do, you should focus on excelling in it- remember the concluding lines of the movie- 3 Idiots.
All the very best and do good!!
