Dear student,

The Nawabs had broken away from the Mughal control and wanted to command the revenue administration of the state. They wanted to rule independently. Hence, they stopped the Jagirdari system.
They managed to keep check in the following ways :
  • Nawab of Bengal transferred all Mughal Jagirdars to Orissa.
  • They ordered a reassessment of the revenues . From now onwards the revenue was collected from zamindars, in cash with great strictness.
