explain 15.4 pg 437 question
I have gone through meritnation answer so don't post same solution I could not understand that

'binding sites that is/are present in that monomer.' what does this mean?
also I could not understand its given example?

The functionality of a monomer is the number of binding sites that is/are present in that monomer.
For example, the functionality of monomers such as ethene is one because there is only one binding site in it.

 

Functionality of 1, 3-butadiene is 2 as there is 2 binding sites as shown below:
