Explain 2 stanzas in simple language


 

The ancient mariner says that at night the death fires danced in a circle around them. They performed various kinds of dances. The sea water burnt like oils of witch. It gave green, blue and white light as it burnt. Some of the sailors, who were in a state of half consciousness, felt certain that it was the polar spirit that was troubling them in such a manner. They thought that the spirit had followed them from the land of mist and snow.
