49.  In medullated nerve fibres nodes of Ranvier are
(a) area of swelling on axons
(b) areas found in stomach wall
(c)  area where myelin sheath is absent on neuron
(d) nodes formed in striated muscles

Dear student,
Answer is c) area where myelin sheath is absent on neuron.
Nodes of Ranvier are present on myelinated axon where myelin sheath is absent and where ion channels are present in abundance. Action potential jumps from one Nodes of Ranvier to another for saltatory conduction because rest of the axon is covered with myelin sheath.
