Explain briefly the comparative economy status of kerala, punjab, bihar and maharashtra.

Dear Student,

In our comparative analysis of economic status for the states of Kerala, Punjab, Bihar and Maharashtra, Maharashtra has the highest per-capita income followed by the states of Kerala, Punjab and Bihar. But, this in itself is insufficient as it only gives a picture of quantitative analysis and does not provide a complete perspective of growth and development. If other variables such as literacy rate and infant mortality rate and compared, it is evident that Kerala has the highest literacy rate with 96.2% percent followed by Maharashtra (83.2%), Punjab (75.8%) and Bihar (63.82%). Kerala has the least infant mortality rate compared to the other states as the statistics confirm that 7 children die out of 1000 before completing the age of one year. The infant mortality rate is higher in Punjab, Maharastra and Bihar. With the above analysis, it can be concluded that Kerala's economic status is better when compared to the other states because of better human development indices. Kerala provides good facilities in terms of health and education. In states of Punjab, Maharastra and Bihar, high cases of female foeticide, discouragement for female education were the major deterents that obstruct the economic status and development of these states.
