Photosynthesis is the process of synthesis of organic food from carbon dioxide and water with the help of sunlight. It occurs in the chlorophyll present in the plant cells. Various steps involved in the process are:

1) Absorption of solar energy by green colored pigment called chlorophyll present in plant cells.

2) Solar energy is converted into chemical energy and water is split into hydrogen and oxygen.

3) Carbon dioxide is converted into carbohydrates using the chemical energy produced.

The significance of photosynthesis is:
