explain corrosion ?

Dear Student, Corrosion is the gradual damage of metals by reacting with oxygen,(present in air, moisture etc) undergoing electrochemical oxidation. For example, corrosion causes damage to car bodies, bridges, iron railings, ships, and all objects made of metals (especially those made from iron). Rusting, the formation of iron oxides is a well-known example of electrochemical corrosion. Iron, in the presence of moisture, reacts with oxygen to form iron (III) oxide. 4Fe + 3O2 + 2H2O -----------> 2Fe2O3.H2O Iron oxygen water hydrated iron(III)oxide or (Rust) Rusting, if uncontrolled can corrode the entire iron present in an object and damage it, by decreasing object’s strength.
