Sponges are found in symbiotic association with various microorganisms. These microbes are attached on the body of these organisms. The sponges are animals and depend on other organisms for food and other products. In the symbiotic association, the microbes like Cyanobacteria produce food by photosynthesis for sponges while the sponges provide shelter to the microorganisms. Thus both of them are benefited.
