Explain how animals in tropical forests are adapted to cope with the competition for food.

Dear student,

Animals living in tropical forests are adapted to cope with competition of food in many ways:-
1.Some animals like bird Toucan are adapted to get food that is not easily reacheable with the help of its long, large beak. This helps Toucan to reach fruits on branches which are otherwise too weak to support its weight.
2.Many tropical animals have sensitive hearing, sharp eyesight, thick skin and a skin color which helps them to camouflage by blending with surrounding protecting them from predators. For example, big cats.
3. Lion- tailed macaque spends major part of his life on tree and feeds mainly on fruits, seeds, leaves etc. Hence he is able to get sufficient food on trees.
4.Elephants have nose which has strong sense of smell and their long trunks are used for picking up the food. Its tusks are modified teeth which can tear the bark of the tree.

Thanks and regards.

Animals in tropical rainforest are adapted in such a way that they eat different kinds of food to overcome the competition for food and shelter. So the elephant is able to handle the competition for food rather well.
