Explain how, decomposers help in maintaning the supply of nutrients to the growing plants in a forest

Dear student, When a plant or animal dies, it leaves behind a body that contain a large amount of nutrients and energy in organic form. Scavengers feed on them and leave behind a considerable amount of unused energy and nutrients in the form of bones, feathers or fur in the case of animals, wood and indigestable litter in the case of plants and in their faeces. Decomposers complete decomposition of this remaining organic matter. Decomposers convert all organic matter into carbon dioxide and nutrients. This releases nutrients (such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and magnesium) in a usable form into the soil. Through this process decomposers maintain the balance of nutrients in the soil. Regards
