Explain how ozone layer is formed in the atmosphere???? how does it protect living beings from harmful radiations of the sun ???

Ozone layer is formed in the stratosphere by the action of UV light on molecular oxygen (O2). UV light breaks down oxygen molecule (O2) into nascent oxygen (O). The nascent oxygen atom combines with oxygen molecule to form ozone (O3).
O2      2OUVO+O2O3
Ozone layer protects living organisms from harmful radiation (UV) of sun by absorbing it. UV light is very harmful for the body as it causes cataracts, sunburn, DNA damages leading to skin cancer etc.

Oxygen in the atmosphere breaks into O+O, bcz of UV rays

Then that O combines wiyh O2 and O3 formed.

Ozone in the Earth's stratosphere is created byultraviolet lightstrikingoxygenmoleculescontaining two oxygenatoms(O2), splitting them into individual oxygen atoms (atomic oxygen); the atomic oxygen then combines with unbroken O2to create ozone, O3.

O2+ ℎνuv→ 2O

O + O2↔ O3

The ozone layer prevents much of the ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun from reaching the Earth. UV light, even with the ozone layer, can cause skin cancer, cataracts and other disorders. If the UV light were unfiltered, we wouldn't last very long. We're protected like this: Ultraviolet light strikes oxygen molecules in the stratosphere - the layer of the atmosphere located directly above the one we breathe, which includes a thin ozone layer - and splits them into two oxygen atoms. Each of these atoms, when it encounters another oxygen molecule, combines with the molecule to make ozone. The UV light also breaks the ozone into an oxygen molecule and an oxygen atom. This is called the ozone-oxygen cycle, and it protects the Earth from UV radiation by converting the radiation to heat
