Explain how painting of an iron gate prevents it from rusting.
When Iron (Fe metal) comes into contact with water and oxygen (from air) it 'rusts' i.e. turns into Iron oxide Fe2O3.xH2O
Inorder to break the surface contact between iron , water and oxygen it is painted, thus prevents formation of rust.
