Explain how the extent of Adsorption depends on the concentration of the solute in solute in solution.

The adsorption process is depends on the availability of surface area in adsorbent for the process, if adsorbent surface area decreases the extent of adsorption also decreases, for example if methylene blue is added initially at small amount to the water and activated carbon is added as adsorbent it cleans water initially but by adding more methylene blue reduces the the adsorbent rate as most of the surface area are already been covered by previously added methylene blue.

Hence increase of solute concentration decreases adsorption process, in simple adsorbent and adsorbate are inversely proportional to concentration.
