Language stimulates regionalism by creating language chauvinism. Most speakers of a particular language are found in a particular area. People of that area may then start feeling that their language is superior to other languages. Hence, they can start demanding that other languages should not be allowed. This creates regionalism, i.e. a feeling that it is the interest of one region than that of the entire nation that is important.
