Coalition government isa government formed by an alliance of two or more political parties.It happens when no single party enjoys majority support of the members in a legislature.
When no single party enjoys majority support of the members in a legislature, they approach regional parties to form an alliance so that their government can be made at Centre. Regional parties help in power sharing by sharing power of government with national parties.
Example: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is a centre-right political alliance led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
