Explain in brief about role of enzymes in DNA super coiling.

Dear student,
Please find below the answer:

DNA supercoiling is crucial for the packaging of DNA within all cells. The length of DNA can be thousands times that of a cell. Packaging of DNA into the cell or nucleus (in eukaryotes) through supercoiling of DNA reduces the space it takes and allows for much more DNA to be packaged. Enzymes that are involved in supercoiling or regulate DNA supercoiling are known as 'topoisomerases'. These enzymes are found in prokaryotic (bacterial cell) as well as eukaryotic cells (human cell). They change the topological state of DNA by creating transient breaks in the sugar-phosphate backbone.

Hope this clears your doubt.
Regards.
