Explain industrial nitrogen fixation and electrical nitrogen fixation.

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

Industrial nitrogen fixation is an artificial process of producing ammonia by fixing nitrogen and hydrogen. It requires high pressure (200 atm) and temperature (4000C) to produce ammonia from nitrogen and hydrogen. The process is also known Haber Bosch process and the ammonia produced are used as synthetic nitrogen fertilizer to enrich soil for crops.

Electrical method of nitrogen fixation was the first synthetic method for fixing nitrogen. It was devised by Lord Rayleigh. It is carried out in a lab where electric arc reacts with oxygen and nitrogen. Nitrogen oxides, thus formed are passes through water to form nitric acid.

nitrogen is fixed through the industrial effluents, discharge of nitrogenous compounds into the soil.
N2 from atmosphere is directly split by lightening and the broken nitogen is discharged through rain water into the soil
