Explain it in detail..
Q). In a nerve if sodium pump blocked, which of the following is most likely to happen ?
(a) Na + and K + will increase outside the cell
(b) Na + outside the nerve will increase
(c) Na + inside the nerve will increase
(d) K + inside the nerve will increase

Dear student,
Answer is c) Na+ inside the nerve will increase.
Sodium potassium pump functions by sending 3 sodium ion outside and 2 potassium ion inside the cell. If sodium pump is blocked then sodium ion accumulates inside the cell putting the cell in depolarised state. The action potential brings the sodium ion inside the cell, so the neuron will be in fired condition and the membrane potential will be near to zero because sodium pump is blocked which pushes the sodium ion outside.
