Explain me how to get the hybridisation of [CuCl2]^-2 by VBT

Dear student'
The shape of [CuCl₂]^2- cannot be explained by VBT. Please check the compound.
[CuCl₂]^- is sp hybridised , whereas, [CuCl₄]^2- has a tetrahedral geometry with sp³ hybridisation.
